I have been working out like crazy lately. I went for my fourth day in a row on the stationary bike. I thought it would be a standard ride but I decided to crank the resistance up. Mind you, I've borrowed my dad's bike several times over the past few years and never amped up the resistance. I kept it pretty much at resistance level 3 and kept it there. Obviously, my body got used to it really quickly. So I decided to play around with the resistance level a bit and get up to level 4, then 5, then 6. Level 6 was pretty hard so I only went at that level for about 10-15 seconds. The other levels I averaged about 30 percent of the workout. I tried reading a book but I reckon if you're going slow enough to read on the bike then you're not really getting a good workout. Besides, my current book is kind of small and not very easy to place on the frame.
I decided to refrain from the post-workout this time. Normally I am crazy about my Vega post-workout powder, but lately I have gone so crazy eating that I decided to stay away from it. It's not too calorie heavy but it does have them!! So I have drank a ton of water and hope that it will flush some of the badness out of my gut. I have been eating way too much gluten and even though I have developed a slight tolerance to it, my belly is all swollen and sore and it's just no fun. Thankfully though we are making a grocery store run tomorrow and I will be able to stock up on my gluten-free favorites. :-)
I have been considering doing some sort of tracking program to maintain my calories. A lot of people are night grazers and some are morning grazers, but for me the crazy hunger will strike and I will eat any and everything in sight. In fact, one of the reasons I have had such a hard time staying vegan was because of the mid-morning snack rages. My parents and sister are not vegan and they don't stock a lot of vegan things. In fact I am half convinced they live on meat and dairy and have not seen a vegetable in a looong time. So I end up eating whatever I can find and it never ends well for me or the animals. :-( But anyway, I am thinking of putting together an easy meal plan that I can cook and supplying inexpensive and healthy snack foods like vegetable chunks and hummus, nuts, carob spirulina chunks (they taste a lot better than they sound!!), and tons of fruit and veggies. I will also drink a lot of water to try and keep me from eating too much.
I have been looking at tracking my calories to get rid of the last 50-60 pounds. I recently joined MyFitnessPal under my new email address and will start tracking calories tomorrow. I think it will be an easier way to stay accountable since I will have to look at my food choices each time I log into the program. I am also getting the app for my phone so if I'm out I can very easily calculate it. It has me eating approximately 1430 calories a day, which is not bad for 191ish. When I was 231 I actually had it calculating me at 1790 or so and I could never meet that goal under my strict dieting. It has me losing about 1.5 lbs a week but usually I lose more with the supplements, around 2-3 lbs a week if I'm lucky. Unfortunately, as of yet that has been the same 4-5 lbs, plus a huge gain when I got off the supplements for a few days. But I think with a definite meal plan in place, eating vegan and within a designated calorie limit, and working out regularly I should be alright. :-)
I look forward to sharing more things with you. I'm sorry I don't blog everyday but sometimes I just get busy!! :-) Have a great night all, be blessed and enjoy the journey!!
