My Beastmode streak continues to Day 3. Today I logged my food on MyFitnessPal for the second day in a row. It is really helping me a ton because I realize that if I bite it, I have to write it. I realize I have a certain amount of calories per day and do I really want to spend it on something that isn't good for me? It provides a level of accountability since I am determined to be honest. In the past I have done it and recorded the serving sizes dishonestly or left out my 120 ounces of diet soda a day (don't try this at home, kids!! I have gotten rid of the soda completely now!!) which would have added gadoodles of sugar. But I reckon no one sees it but me, and if I have to lie to myself, what's the point of doing it? But I recorded diligently and honestly today and I was quite happy with that. :-)
I also tried another recipe in the Happy Herbivore cookbook, the vegan macaroni and cheese. Before you get too worried about calories, vegan mac and cheese is actually quite a bit less fattening than regular macaroni and cheese because it is made with nutritional yeast and spices added to almond milk. The only thing you're really getting much fat from is the almond milk. One serving of macaroni and cheese is around 324 calories, which is very decent considering the average boxed macaroni is 400 calories a serving or so. I will post the recipe sometime as I will definitely be making it again. :-)
After my dinner I decided to spice things up a bit with my workouts. I got the Zumba Exhilarate DVDs as a gift from my fiancé last year, and I thought for sure I had lost most of the DVDs. But I have been discovering them in random places around the house and they seem to be pretty much functional (and not skipping) so I was very happy about that. I was kind of hoping to get through 30 minutes of the DVD, because when I was at my heaviest I could only make it through 18 minutes of the DVD. I stopped at 22 minutes to rehydrate, and recovered in a minute or two to finish the DVD. It was 60 minutes long, which I never would have been able to do before. (Actually, I'm not sure I can 100 percent do it now. I am not rhythmically inclined in the slightest and look more like I'm pitching a temper tantrum than dancing!!) MyFitnessPal told me that I burned around 760 calories in an hour of Zumba, which since I was out about 300 calories from my goal, put me at a crazy 1000 calorie deficit on the app. So I ate a little bit of mac and cheese and put me at a 700 calorie deficit, which I was pretty much okay with. Besides, I have never really been a strong advocate of "eat like crazy because you worked out like crazy" point of view. If I need to refuel I'm okay with that but if I don't have to eat unless I just want to. And goodness only knows that at 9 o'clock at night I do not need an extra 1000 calories!! :-D
Tomorrow my fiancé and I are going bowling and to Denny's for lunch. I will try to get something relatively low in calories and vegan, and eat only half the dish. The portions in restaurants are SO much bigger than what I'm used to and that's the way my dad has always dealt with large portions. Eat one half now, eat one half for another meal (and usually not for the next meal). :-) I look forward to bowling with him and hopefully bowling over a 59! I am as good at bowling as I am at dancing. ;-)
Well, I hope everyone has a great evening!! Be blessed and enjoy the journey!
